There's been a sound echoing across Boone the last few Saturdays that has been absent the past 6 years. Yesterday, the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad's steam locomotive completed it's first full day of service since 2017. Over the past 6 years, many volunteers have worked on what is known as the "1472 inspection", that requires a boiler inspection and rebuild every 1472 operating days, or 15 years. Having the opportunity to capture images this weekend was a bit of a special treat for me, as some of my earliest dabbles into photography and videography began at the Boone & Scenic Valley back in 2011. The railroad plans to pull the remaining Saturday excursion trains with the steam locomotive. If you're looking for a unique experience, there are still some tickets available!
